Who are the Samaritans?

The Samaritan congregation is a remnant of the ancient kingdom of Israel. Samaritans observe the Torah (Law of Moses) to the letter, and to this very day.
At the beginning of the 5th century C.E., the Samaritan population had reached over one million throughout the country. However, rapidly changing regimes, conversions to Islam and Christianity, various sanctions and persecutions have taken their toll, extremely reducing the Samaritan population to slightly over one hundred at the start of the 20th century.
The third decade of the 20th century has brought about a relative stability to the Samaritan population and ever since, the Samaritans congregation experiences development in every aspect of life.
Among its many titles, one may grant them with the title of the most ancient people that preserved the oldest tradition.
